As expected, the, which debuted at the Bangkok Motor Show last month, certainly did preview the Colorado’s upcoming design direction. However, Brazil is receiving first dibs on the midsize pickup truck, where it retains the long-retired S10 nameplate.
The 2017 has received a host of refinement in the details for the global market, where engineers looked into creating a more efficient and capable package for consumers. That means, foremost, the structural elements have been re-engineered. New suspension, brakes and more have been redesigned, while noise and vibration is down significantly over the outgoing generation pickup. In addition, lighter materials have created a five-percent more economical truck, while remaining the most powerful in the segment. As for the design itself, it’s still not a carbon-copy of the, but it certainly looks more in line with the brand’s global design DNA. The front fascia has been sculpted and sits more upright, while LED lighting brings a premium feel to the pickup truck.
We even see a little Trailblazer Premier here. Out back is where things look a tad more global, however, and typical pickup truck. But, the bed gains a host of new storage solutions as well as optional LED lanterns for nighttime use. Chevrolet says the new design not only helps the S10 look more prestigious, but it’s significantly more aerodynamic now, too. The brand calls the materials in the cockpit a massive jump from the outgoing truck. Soft touch materials are swathed over the cabin, and ergonomics were put front and center for greater usability. Speaking of usability, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are onboard, too, along with a second-generation MyLink system.
“The visual changes, the use of noble materials and the use of hi-tech technologies reinforce the avant-garde image S10,” says Carlos Barba, director of Chevrolet design. The 2017 S10 arrives in thirteen different flavors. First, there are LS, LT, LTZ and High Country trims.
Then, moving right along, both a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine and 2.5-liter petrol engine are on deck, mated to either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox. Two-wheel drive and 4×4 round out the traction options, and buyers finally have the choice of single, double or chassis cabs. Each variant is five-percent more fuel efficient, states the brand, no matter the combination.
The 2017 Chevrolet S10 will officially debut this May, with the global Chevrolet Colorado and not far behind. Expect a to follow, too.
Stupidity squared! This micro-Avalanche is just another ‘disposable yuppie trash toy’! What about city use for a small S-10 (a REAL S-10) pick-up? I need to carry some lumber, groceries, maybe my dog or some hunting gear.

Why has GM lost-it’s-mind on CROSSOVERS? Call me when you remember what a TRUCK looks like (and when you can risk losing Silverado sales to offer a mini-truck again). Hint: I’m NEVER going to buy a Silverado, I don’t need it – and you aren’t getting my money for a small-truck, since YOU DON’T MAKE A SMALL TRUCK!
